I've got the Arduino generic remote:
Great little device. Wroks great. Only issue is that my app doesn't match the legends on the stock remote.
How to fix?
Print an overlay? On What? Attach How?
Paper seems like it would wear, but I can run it they the hp laser and overprint onto stickyback whatever legends I need.
Plastic? Opaque? Laser feedable? (some plastic melts when it hits the fuser roller - DAMHIKT)
Any and all ideas welcome. I'm willing to go to a different remote if you know of one with changable legends.
Made my own as seen here.
The overlay is laminated.
What was the material used?
Normal 24 pound white paper (could use any colour).
Laminated on top and bottom.
??? Laminate the bottom how does it stick? Contact cement? Paper then laminate how? Heat lamination ain't going to work, can't feed the remote thru the rollers.
Print on white label stock and stick it down was my first idea but paper wears fast.
Plastic, laserable, sticky back. Hmmm
We have a plastic laminator.
If you have wide clear packing tape, you can laminate your overlay with that (if you are careful ).
For simplicity, I tape the overlays on.
You probably do not need to laminate the bottom of the paper overlay.
The yellow paper here is laminated with packing tape on top and double stick tape on the bottom.
How many remotes are you needing? If you contact the sellers on AliExpress, thay can often get custom printing done for you at almost no cost.
I recently worked with a client who needed 250 remote control units, found a supplier who did custom key legends, logo & custom codes for each key (because their stock codes activated something - can't remember what), and delivered the controls for less than £200 (+VAT) for the lot.
