I have a train layout with 8 snap switches connected back to a control panel. The issue I cant see the siding to know if its set to main track or off of main. My thought, the switches are momentary so use the current to set the snap switch as an input which l will light an LED. when I switch I can use the current again from the next position to light and additional LED, so one LED indicates main track the other indicates a siding.
my issues how do I turn off the LED when I switch to another position?
Sorry new to all this and trying to figure out how to make it happen
My late father wanted to do this as well on his HO/OO layout, he tried a small microswitch to detect when the point was in the straight ahead position. The change over switch in the microswitch turned on the appropriate LED to show point direction.
I was going to get him converted to Hall Effect devices for a non physical contact with the point control arm.
