DRV8825 clone, can't change Vref

Hello, a few days ago I bought a low-cost DRV8825, the Vref is impossible to change using the potentiometer, I measured the Vref that it comes with and it shows 1.8V, as I understand that value is for a 3.6A motor per phase.

Has anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it?

I'm thinking about adding resistors to adjust it to the current per phase my stepper motor requires. (my motor is 1.5A per phase)

Is the idea good? Am I wrong about something?

I apologize if I can't understand it well, I'm recently learning electronics

You're likely using the wrong points when measuring. Search for a "How to set DRV8825 current." tutorial.
