Looks like eBay is a good source for adjustable iris diaphragms under $20. Add a hobby servo and there you go: electro-Mechanical iris diaphragm.

Hey, thanks for the idea. I picked up a manual iris to see how well it works then I'll attach a light monitor and a motor/servo attached to the manual open closed adjustment rod. Cool beans.
