error compilling when verify the code

hello, i have a problem when i verify the arduino code before upload to arduino.. the error is : In file included from Slave.pde:31:
C:\Users\Titilianty\Documents\Arduino\libraries\NewSoftSerial/NewSoftSerial.h:71: error: conflicting return type specified for 'virtual void NewSoftSerial::write(uint8_t)'
C:\Program Files\Arduino\hardware\arduino\cores\arduino/Print.h:48: error: overriding 'virtual size_t Print::write(uint8_t)'

could anyone help me to solve this problem? thank you.. :slight_smile:

This might be caused because NewSoftSerial has been renamed to SoftwareSerial, for some long confusing saga the details of which escape me.

What version of the IDE are you using?

Is your ability to search for this particular error, discussed many times over the last couple of years somehow failing you?
