While updating boards, I’m getting this:

I moved your topic to an appropriate forum category @krischu.

In the future, when creating a topic please take some time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your topic. There is an "About the _____ category" topic at the top of each category that explains its purpose.

This is an important part of responsible forum usage, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. The guide contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.

This is the second time in the last 15 minutes I've had to ask you to do this. Please start making a stronger effort to pay attention and behave in a responsible manner. If you won't respond to my polite requests, I'll be forced to resort to an account suspension to get your attention. I don't want to do that, and I'm sure you don't want it either. So READ THE GUIDE and FOLLOW THE GUIDE!!!

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Hi @krischu.
The installation of the "esp32" boards platform failed due to timeout occurred during the download.

The duration of the timeout that causes Arduino IDE to cancel a download is configurable. You should be able to work around this problem by configuring a higher timeout value. I'll provide instructions you can follow to do that:

  1. Select File > Quit from the Arduino IDE menus if it is running.
All Arduino IDE windows will close.
  2. Open the file at the following path in any text editor:
    • If you are using Linux:
      /home/<username>/.arduinoIDE/arduino-cli.yaml

(where <username> is your Linux username)
      • :red_exclamation_mark: The .arduinoIDE folder may be hidden by default in your file manager and terminal.
    • If you are using macOS:
      /Users/<username>/.arduinoIDE/arduino-cli.yaml

(where <username> is your macOS username)
      • :red_exclamation_mark: The .arduinoIDE folder is hidden by default. You can make it visible by pressing the Command+Shift+. keyboard shortcut.
    • If you are using Windows:
      C:\Users\<username>\.arduinoIDE\arduino-cli.yaml

(where <username> is your Windows username)
  3. Add the following content to the arduino-cli.yaml file (or replace the existing content if equivalent content is already present in the file):
    network:
      connection_timeout: 12000s

I arbitrarily chose a timeout value of 12000 seconds. You can adjust this as needed.
  4. Save the file.
  5. Start Arduino IDE.

Now try installing/updating the "esp32" boards platform again, just the same as you did before. Hopefully this time it will be successful.

Sorry, it’s just now that I’m first time noticing that you sent me a message. I was busy posting and searching where my messages went  Next time I’ll be more careful.
