ESD handling question

When looking at ESD rating for a component, human body model for example, what is the safe rating that shows you can handle the component with bare hands? Thanks

Generally 1.5kV to 2.5kV....but anything beyond is better.

Still take the necessary precautions as one can clock up a few thousand volts of ESD....Or add ESD clamping diodes to your circuit.

So , ±500 V is pretty bad and should be taken care when handling? I have slight suspicion this could have been the case. Thanks.

Hello killzone_kid

Take a view to get some information wrt ESD.

I would say so, it wouldn't be as much of a problem in a high humidity environment....But definitely take precautions.

1.5kV @ 100pF capacitor is the Human Body Model(HBM) for testing....
