Does anyone know of a programming board for the ESP32 S3 Wroom modules? I have been looking on and off for weeks and can not find one. I am looking for one like the ESP32 has this one. I don't think I would be able to make one with the springs like the one in the link and trying to find pogo pins to make a board out of with 1.27mm pitch I can only find in rows of 8. I'm looking to do this as the first upload to a new chip needs to be done via ESP-PROG then after that I can upload new code via the USB lines.
You could always wait until you’ve put the chip in circuit and have a small board with an Ftdi programmer and couple of push buttons connected to a socket on your board built for that purpose .
I’ve made up an experimenters board for that , then build another chip into the final job and program it there ( always useful to be able to update at a later point ).
I didn’t find anything like you were looking for but the spring clip thing you have seen may work , even if all of the I/O doesn’t match that particular chip or you can hack it to make a programmer .
If you look at the pin outs for that modules chip type and your chip and see if the power supply , Tx, rx , EN and Reset pins are in the same place if so it might do the job .
Yep that's the puppy than I', looking for but the pins on a 32E and S3 do not match so that one wouldn't work. I have one and it works perfectly for the 32E and would really like one for the S3.
Seems like I will have to keep putting the traces on the final boards as the ones like you have linked do fit the S3 and make one hobbyist is not something I have the skills for with the spring connectors.
Hi @madcarbon ,
Strange thing, at least the description indicates is suitable for several ESP32 modules including the S3... They have several, just search the "colours" for the right product.
I made myself a little chart showing where the pins went on the wroom on the springy thing - not perfect , but as I said I make the projects now so I can get at the programming pins .
