Esp32 uses

Hello All, I think I may have taken a wrong turn with ordering the ESP32 with camera believing that it was a camera module that would work with a MKRGSM1400. I didn't realise that this is a controller in its own right

I wanted something that would snap a photo upon an event triggering (this is my ultrasonic alarm from the programming section)

So my question is can the esp32 “module” be used as a camera connected to the mkrgsm1400 so that it stores a photo to SD card or should I be looking for another anther camera module if there is one?

I have looked all over the web for an answer but cannot find anything specific

Thanks in advance

Dan

In the absence of any details (hint), I guess your ESP32 module doesn't have an SD card slot.

It has an SD slot, what I am asking is can it be used as a module to take photos when the mkrgsm1400 triggers

I am not interested in using it asa micro-controller or wifi etc inthis project, i just needsome module to take and store photos following an event

Thanks

Dan

The ESP32 should have plenty of unused I/O, so yes, it should be capable of being triggered by another device.

Thanks for the reply

Has anyone actually used it this way?

I think subconsciously you wanted a wireless camera   :stuck_out_tongue:

if you take the ESP32 and the camera
add a button

press the button, take a picture.

then you proved how it works.

connect the MKRGSM1400, to the ESP32, digital pin to digital pin
send out a signal from the MKRGSM1400 to the ESP32, it will act just like you pressed the button.

did you want to get that picture over to the MKRGSM1400 ?

as HutKikz mentioned you can buy a wiresless gsm pir camera , cheap, low res for $20

I will have a go at this, thanks. I dint want a separate pir camera, thats too easy
