Im just using 2 Servos attached to my ESP 32 WROOM 32E and powered it with my laptop

Welcome to the forum

I have moved your topic to the Uploading category of the forum as it seems to be a more appropriate place to post it

Which Arduino board and version of the IDE are you using and which OS does your PC use ?

Im using Windows right now, and im using an esp32 board, precisely the ESP32-WROOM-32E
module ... also im using arduino ide version 2.3.6

Have you tried the link suggested in the error message ?

I got the same error yesterday. I had been playing with an UNO and let my computer go to sleep for the afternoon. When I came back to it and woke up the computer my port was missing and I kept getting the same error message you posted. I had to exit the IDE and restart it. That fixed it.

I did that many times it didnt do anything

I did its just saying to download the two drivers and such which i have aldready done
i dont know what else to do

First of all disconnect those. Servos should not be powered by the board in first place.

yes im aware im just using the data cable on the esp the other two are going directly to the power source

I fiddled with it a bit and now im stuck at "hard resetting with rts pin".

I suggest you to disconnect all wiring from your esp for now (except USB data cable).

yes I did that..thats when it uploaded the code i think but it just got stuck at hard resetting with rts pin rn
Any ideas why it that?

This is what is expected when the upload is successful.

Not surprising. When your PC sleeps, the USB may be shutdown by power saving settings. It’s not uncommon for applications to fail to re-init USB/serial connections when the PC wakes up, leaving the connections invalid.

If you want anything USB-related to function correctly through a ‘sleep’, you need to force it to keep your USB functioning, usually through setting your power options in the PC setup.

That, of course, only addresses this particular part of your thread here, so carry on.

What you mean stuck? Your code doesn't run now?

oh so this means its working..actually what I did is use the wifi option and was expecting to see an address so i didnt know where to find it

@camsysca I think I found how to fix this. Thanks.

Good to hear. I wasn’t very specific, because it’s extremely dependent on manufacturer, OS, platform(desktop, portable, tablet, etc.), so a lot of intended helpful information might be useless.

I am incredibly mechanical savvy but not very computer savvy at all. If someone can point me in the right direction I can use AI to help out from there.
