I am looking for a programmer to write and connect a Wi-Fi camera to a smart keychain via Arduino ESP32
I moved your topic to an appropriate forum category @artico48 .
In the future, please take some time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your topic. There is an "About the _____ category" topic at the top of each category that explains its purpose.
This is an important part of responsible forum usage, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. The guide contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
I'm not sure I understood correctly what you mean by this. Are you offering to pay a developer to create this device for you? Or are you seeking free assistance in creating the project yourself? Either one is fine, but we need to correctly understand your request in order to effectively assist you.
The reason I ask is because there is a "Jobs and Paid Consultancy" forum category specifically for offering paid work. If you are offering payment then I would move your topic there to ensure the people who are interested in such opportunities will see it.
The category I moved your topic to is generally used to request free assistance in accomplishing your project. The helpers in this category are happy to help you learn, but not often interested in doing your project for you.
If I understand your request, connecting a keychain I carry in my pocket or attached to a belt loop with an ESP32CAM WiFi camera with the required battery pack is going to make a very bulky package even if you only use a small enough battery to only power the WiFi for a few minutes a day. You can make it a lot smaller by using the SEEED Studio XIAO ESP32S3 Sense, but that will still require a battery. Since WiFi is power hungry, the size of the battery is directly proportional to the amount of time the WiFi radio is turned on. If you can specify how long the device will be turned on, what amount of that time will the camera be on, what amount of time will the WiFi be turned on, and how often you want to re-charge or change batteries, then we may be able to tell you if the project is doable. If it is doable, it's a fairly trivial job.
Thanks for your thoughts but I didn't explain myself enough: in fact I mean a fixed system to manage entrances to apartments given for short-term rental such as airbnb. So a video camera such as HIK VISION DS-K1T343MWX to be connected to an ARDUINO board with ESP32 expansion or similar to communicate with a smart key ring such as ARREGUI Keeper E-SEGO14.The facial recognition camera (with RJ45 - RS485 connections) could send the result to the Arduino board which in turn could give the ok to the key ring via Bluetooth.
yes I'm looking for a job and paid consultancy to obtain at the end a fixed system to manage entrances to apartments given for short-term rental such as airbnb.
OK, I have now moved your topic to the appropriate Community > Jobs and Paid Consultancy forum category.
Regards, pert
If I understand correctly, integrating an ESP32-CAM with a keychain will be bulky due to battery constraints, especially with WiFi. A smaller option like the SEEED Studio XIAO ESP32S3 Sense still requires power. The feasibility depends on factors like uptime, camera and WiFi usage, and how often you’re willing to recharge or swap batteries. If these align with available battery options, the project is doable. Let me know your requirements
thanks for your comments but my project is for fixed installation of an apartment located for short term rentals such as AIRBNB. Italian laws require recognition in person as in a hotel but for short term rentals this is a big organizational problem and I want to automate the operation. I am not a technician but I found online, for facial recognition, a video camera with WIFI and a smart keychain with Bluetooth that opens with digital command from which you can take the keys to the apartment. Between the two devices you need a board like Arduino or Raspberry and the relative instructions.
Do you know what the relevant instructions are? Without a specification for the devices this could be quite difficult. For obvious reasons, I doubt the manufacturer publishes a spec for their security protocol.
Also, I am not an expert on Italian law, but I do not think the system you describe would meet requirements of the law.
The usual question: What's the budget?
No battery but power from house where I have also wi-fi modem. I plan an arduino board as an interface between the facial recognition camera and the smart box with Bluetooth. I upload a guest photo and when the guest shows up in front of the camera the Arduino board recognizes the guest and sends a signal to the smart box that opens allowing the guest to collect the keys to the apartment. In the same way the guest shows up in front of the camera that opens the box where the guest can put the keys back and leave.
Enough!
Videocamera may be
HIK VISION DS-K1T331W
and Smart box is: ARREGUI KEEPER E-SEG013.

Let's not assume hardware here as that may unnecessarily constrain the solution. Arduino is probably not the best choice.
Your problem;
You need to recognize a guest and upon recognition, send a BLE signal to a "smart keychain" to unlock the door.
The questions:
- Do you have a technical spec of the protocol used to communicate with this keychain?
- How physically large does the "recognition box" need to be?
- Is there an internet connection of any kind (Ethernet, Wi-Fi) available nearby?
- Is there a suitable power source available nearby or must this be battery powered?
- Is management of the target image (website to upload image to, deletion of image after a certain time, etc.) included in this project, or is that an external interface?
Probably more, but that should be enough to get started.
I don't know what your budget is in Italy, but my rough order of magnitude estimate from here in the Midwestern US is about $20,000 - $50,000 for a working, delivered system depending on final requirements. Which probably lets me out because I usually avoid anything that looks like it will be more than $10,000 (takes too much time).
You can actually buy these system as a tunkey solution - but not for ESP32 ![]()
Problem solved!
