Feasibility study

Hello All,

I want to use a Arduino Mega with 20 induction PNP sensors. Some of the cable lengths for the sensors could be around 14 ft. Sensor voltage drop Max. 2.5 VDC @ 200 mA.

Hooking up a couple of sensors with resistors in series and a zener diode I am getting a voltage of 4.23V on the input pin.

Just wanted to know if there any thing i should watch out for. I am currently getting a floating value on a digital read.

that is a rather slippery concept. is it floating between 1 & 0?

Please read the first post in any forum entitled how to use this forum. http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/topic,148850.0.html . Then look down to item #7 about how to post your code. It will be formatted in a scrolling window that makes it easier to read.

Can you please post a copy of your circuit, in CAD or a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?

We need to see your code.

What voltage are you powering your sensors? Do they share the same gnd as the Mega?
