feeding power to Arduino miniPro from USB port on iOS or Android

Hi everybody,

i would like to use a phone (iPhone or Android) to power up an Arduino miniPro 5v.

I don't need any sort of communication between the phone and the Arduino, just purely the power supply.

I have try to find some info on-line but all i get is to set up communication through USB...

Anyone could help me on this? THANKS!!!!

KR

Marco

Turning on the Arduino Mini from a phone is communication between the phone and the Arduino.

Hi Steve,

no it is not.... communication is when you exchange data between two devices.... i need the phone only to feed power to the Arduino.
So my question is how to get the 5V from the usb port of the mobile phone....

thanks

You jusr connect the phone charging cable to this:

and connect that to this:

I assume have a DMM and can you can figure out
how to use Google to do the last step...

I think you may be assuming too much about the iphone charging connector , like maybe that it is bidirectional. If there is a diode in there You may have to use a charger to supply the power.

"Power up" implies control.
If you had said "i would like to use a phone (iPhone or Android) to power an Arduino miniPro 5v.", then the question would have been more clear.
