For future reference

Hi, I want to know how to make arduino shields using fritzing. Has anyone done this? Any help would be appreciated!

Use Eagle from EAGLE | PCB Design And Electrical Schematic Software | Autodesk
Then you can use Eagle files from the Products page as a starting point.

It seems like it would be possible to do that with F**ing. From what I have seen, it appears that they can help you go from a schematic all the way to delivering finished PCBs.

But you are tied to their system. If you want to make more boards, you must use their service. Not a problem if your friends want one or two but you might find yourself becoming so skilled with it that 20 friends want one of your projects. Or you just have a lot of identical PCBs required for your grand Christmas lights next year. That's when you want to take your files to a bulk Chinese supplier and get them all done for 10% of the cost at F**ing.

There are other similar PCB services out there which lock you in.

Eagle, however, is a transportable skill. Once you've learned that, then you can make any boards anywhere with anyone's software. If Eagle somehow goes out of business or decides to put the prices up, then you aren't stuck with lots of inaccessible designs.

If you want to use Fritzing, have a look at its output capabilities. Fritzing allows to draw a schematic build-up picture, circuit diagram, and board layout. Learn how to enter a circuit diagram first, then how to create a board layout for that circuit.

More advanced layout programs can include auto placement of all parts on a PCB, and auto routing of all connections between these parts. But don't expect that any program can convert your circuit diagram fully automatic into a PCB layout. You'll have to add information e.g. about the minimum width of e.g. power supply lines, which signal lines are critical and should be as short as possible, where ground areas have to be added to separate signal lines from each other, and where caps have to be added to stabilize the supply voltage in certain places of the final board.

Do you want to design something that you can manufacture (or get manufactured)?

OR do you just want a Fritzing image that you can post on the Forum when you need help?
