Will this be a "locked" forum? With the title as it is, I can see there being a lot of "Hello, my name is ......., I am from ...... And I like cats. Thanks for letting me join" posts in this forum.
Other than the name, I think grouping the "Beginner Tutorials" in one place is a good idea.
Like the idea but....
There are already reference materials available for beginners in a few different places on the site.
Are those going to be consolidated or will it add to a "mish mash" of tutorials and other reference materials. (some of which is past its sell by date) ?
Will the KIT sections be consolidated too as they again might cover a lot of what will be available.
Agree with Danger on the perils of just hello posts that would murky the waters.
However I think for now it should remain open for Q&A as to what it will eventually be.
a topic called "COME BACK AND CHECK YOUR THREAD" should be here
You've really got to change the title of this board. "Introduction" can lead people to believe that this is where they introduce themselves when they first use the forums.
Change it to "Tutorials" or something similar which doesn't include the word "introduction".

I am not convinced that the content of this smartphone Thread is appropriate. Accepting it implies that every tutotrial anywhere on the internet can get a link here.
I think we should only allow Threads here which have the tutorial content in them. That way it is possible to comment on the content and, at least in theory, it will be possible to remove Threads that are not helpful.
The use of the French language in a tutorial in the English language section may also be an issue. But I don't know if there is a tutorial section in the French-language-section.
I have posted here rather than using Report to Moderator so that there is scope for some discussion

But I don't know if there is a tutorial section in the French-language-section.
Just have a look, it's free
Delta_G:
get some sort of peer review process or at least spend a few days or weeks out on the boards getting commented on before they come in.
+1
Maybe there could be a Thread in this section where someone can propose a Thread for inclusion - for example "I propose that this Thread (link) should be moved into this section"
And then people can review it and comment before it gets moved here.
And it may be no harm to carry out a review or reconsideration of the Threads already here.
...R
Dont tell him but I would agree with Robin...posts have already had to be moved.
Certainly at least some form of lock.
EDIT
It also seems to be a honeytrap for spammers too being at the top of the forum list so R2 is certainly on point.
Just noticed 2 spams dissapear in the last few minutes.
I've also noticed that my, non-spam, trying to raise valid suggestions, post about this has disappeared too. Moderation is maybe getting a bit overenthusiastic (or perhaps I should just take the hint and realise I ain't wanted round here).

I posted a suggestion for a very short guidance note for newbies in a post in another Thread as a response to another comment. However I should probably should have posted it in this Thread. As it has already been commented on I won't re-post it here. But I would welcome comments on it.
