I don't think that we ever blamed a user for a post not being fancy. We did blame them for forgetting code tags or for creating a word salad.
I donāt care if posts are fancy (code tags aside) as long as the content complete, preferably is presented logically and I can read it
That is exactly what we will have as soon as Discourse fixes the bugs in the "rich text editor" mode.
I changed the default mode to "Markdown editor" a couple of days ago solely due to the fact that bugs in the "rich text editor" mode are causing users to post poorly formatted non-prose content even when they make a reasonable effort to do it correctly. I plan to change the default back to "rich text editor" as soon as the bugs are fixed.
My point was that being exposed to the simple intuitive language frequently will have resulted in gaining fluency osmotically.
That is irrelevant to the subject of allowing advanced users to do advanced things.
I don't receive any notification of updates. Discourse simply updates the forum silently.
A recent post quite strenuously denied that there was any connection between the admins of the Discourse site and this forum, stating that they are run by two separate teams. So its a bit of a surprise to hear that changes to this forum are being made āby Discourseā ?
You are thinking of the Discord chat platform, not the Discourse forum framework. Despite the similar names, these are two completely different things.
Sorry, yes, you are correct. Got muddled with the names. My mistake.
Can I claim this one as a "senior moment" please? I am over 65.....
Arduino Forum uses the open source Discourse forum framework.
Forums are welcome to use the Discourse software completely free, but the company that created the software also offers paid hosting plans. Arduino company chose to use a hosting plan from the Discourse company instead of managing the Discourse instance internally. This has the additional benefit of financially supporting the further development of the open source Discourse software.
As part of that hosting plan, the Discourse company takes care of regularly updating the version of the framework as enhancements and fixes are made to it.
No worries. It is a very common confusion:

Here's a question we get a lot ā Discourse and Discord. They sound awfully similar, but are they the same?
