Hi everyone,
I would like to know the speed of my tractor to modify the fertilizer I apply.
For that I would use the iso 11786 that is in the cab of my tractor.
As you can on the document, this plug is sending a sqarred signal 12V. We should have 130signal/m. Considering my tractor is running under 10km/h I should stay under 1kHtz.
I tried to use an optocoupler to get this signal without success.
Could you help me on that ?
Which opto coupler did you try and how was it wired?
I am using a pc817 octocoupler. I tried to connect it to gnd and d7 or 5v and d7 but nothing was working.
At this point it is best if you post an annotated schematic showing exactly how you have wired this. Be sure to show all connections, power, ground, power sources and pin numbers on the connector.
This should work with PC817, is this the way you wired?
The document states the "mark" or no signal voltage is the 12 volts. Using the optocoupler circuit, the LED will be on with no tractor movement and the inverting transistor will give a low with no tractor movement. If this was my project, I would count high interrupts for 1 second and report that as the tractor speed.
