Giant 16x2 'LCD'

Not sure why it's needed but it's kinda fun to watch.
It does get a bit tedious with the speeded up build sequences and tinny music.

Unlike a real size one, does it work from 3.3V?

There are LCD displays that operate at 3.3V. And you can modify many 5V ones yourself to operate at 3.3V by adding the missing 7660 and 2 10uF caps, and changing the value of the oscillator resistor from 91K to 76.8K (going from memory) and decreasing the value of the series resistor for the backlight.

The backlight resistor is the easy bit. Interesting idea with adding the missing the 7660 to provide/boost the negative voltage. Just been comparing 5V and 3.3V boards and see what you mean.
