Glove controller, need help in choosing components

Hi all, i'm building a powerglove like controller for a university project and i'm choosing components that i should buy.
The controller should have 4 flex sensors(http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2124867_-1), an accelerometer, a wireless module (thinking about the xbee one) and an arduino managing it all.
I thought the arduino mega would be a good choice, since it has enough analog pin for all the sensors, using 2 9 volts lithium batteries to power it. I can't really choose an accelerometer however(don't know much about the technology in general).
I would like to have some opinions/advices on the components since i am after all a big arduino noob
Sorry for my poor english XD

What are you controlling?

The purpose is to send to the computer a signal proportional to how much fingers are bend, and another signal coming from the accelerometer. It has still no specific purpose but we would like to use it for both moment recognition and controlling some computer software
