Glue on arduino help!

I accidentally dropped a LARGE AMOUNT of glue on top of my Arduino Nano. It can't receive code, takes 1 second to reset when i press the reset button, and code doesn't run like it can't run circuits and is i borked? i dropped elmers glue in it and i removed half of the glue which is mixed with green acrylic paint, so what should I do? it does blink a the onboard LED a few times
But for some reason when I upload code only the RX LED blinks not the TX LED like it used to
HELP I CAN'T SOLDER OR BUY A NEW BOARD BECAUSE THIS IS A DAY 1 BOARD AND IS 12 HOURS OLD

The glue is likely not conductive, but your attempt at removal may have resulted in damage to components.

Why can't you buy a new board?
No money?

Welcome to the forum

What type of Elmers glue was it and how did you remove it ?

Elmers glue looks as though it's water based PVA. If it's yellow or white in the container, then it's PVA. Also a good clue are the warnings on the glue bottle. Look for the fire symbol for solvent based glues. When dry, depending on the substrate, PVA glues will peel off.

There's a good chance it still has conductivity which is causing problems.
The damage might already have been done.

Your best bet would have been to get it under the tap straight away and scrub it off with a tooth brush. A deionised water rinse is best with a hot air dry.
If there's nothing to lose, you could rinse with propanol. Most components are designed to withstand washes during production. If it still doesn't work, and it's PVA, you could soak the board in deionised water for several hours and use a pin to pick off glue between close packed soldered joints

You might have gummed up the USB connector, in which case use the other methods to upload code.

We all do it. I dropped a large open bottle of superglue on the carpet. Nothing would shift it, not even the recommended release chemical, Propylene Carbonate

Get a new one, recycle that one…you can’t trust it anymore anyway

Not sure what you mean by this, but why does it make a difference how old it is? If it is broken, it is broken, you might call it infant mortality if it helps you get over its age.

Also a valuable life lesson, don’t drop glue on electronics. There is a whole lot of other stuff you shouldn't drop on electronics, I will leave it up to you to extend your list.

Hi, @devinext1442
Welcome to the forum.

Can you please post some pictures of your glued Nano?

Tom.... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

yea sure hold up

yes no money at all i'm a broke 13 year old😭

Hi, @devinext1442

If you used Elmer's PVA, it is water soluble while wet and you can wash clean the Nano.

Once it has dried it is not water soluble anymore, but if left soaking in water sometimes the glue swells and lifts off.

(u can appreciate the clearness of my iphone 5 camera)
yes here is the board
it also magically fixed itself and now it can run code but it can't upload code for some reason, what do you think happened

heres a pic of the glue

(ignore the ky-038 connected to the nano)

It could be that the glue is conductive whilst curing, but non-conductive once it becomes fully cured.

Good to hear it is now functional.

Hi, @devinext1442

I would say most of the water has evaporated out of the PVA.
Check the IC under the PCB, it is the USB IC.
Where is the glue?

Tom.... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

the glue is only on top of the board

it never touched the ch340

by cured do you mean dried? i heard of that term in some air dry clay box

OHHHH the ch340 is just not detected by my laptop lemme fix it and BOOM it works now  :))
