HC-05 pairing issues

I'm using the HC-05 bluetooth module for a wearable I'm creating. The big issue is, when I try to connect to my Android phone (Galaxy S8) it demands a password (PIN), but as the module is it has no password. I can connect just fine to my Windows Laptop via control panel, but I couldn't find any way to connect my phone to a device that has no password. Do you have any idea on what to do? Is there any 3rd party app that I can use to connect without the use of a password?

No surprise there, so it must be some comfort to realise that HC-05 does have a passwqord. Try 1234 or 0000.

I've already tried both of these, but it fails to connect.

This is the real nonsense.

There are some reasons why you cannot pair:

  1. No power on HC-05. No LED flashing
  2. You don't know how to pair. It is done in the phone's settings menu
  3. You don't know what pairing is. It is not connecting for communications
  4. The module is a dud. Very unlikely
  5. It's not an HC-05, it is something else, perhaps an HM-10
  6. You have successfully paired but you don't know it.
  7. None of the above, you do know what you are doing, but the password has been changed.
