HELP Relays Module

Hi,
I am a student and I am building a traffic light as a proyect to gradute from highschool.
We are using Arduino 1 5V, a 8 Channel 5V Relay Shield Module Board Optocoupler Module, 5 Tape lights 12V of 1m long, a Protoboard and a Regulated Power supply, and an ultrasonic sensor.
My problem is that the lights start flashing crazy and they do not follow the programming.
When we use only small leds it works, but we need it in a big dimension.
We discovered that the problem may be the Relay Module, but I do not know what else to do.
I welcome any suggestion, but if it is a cheap one.
