No reason it should not work, would need to see the details of what the person was doing to understand why it failed.
No reason I can think of that you would need pullup/pull-down resistors on an unused pin. That usually only matters if an input you are using is left floating.
Sounds like it would work, but at that point you basically have a nano.
Is there a specific reason you need all the boards hooked up to USB? That is a very unusual configuration when running this many atmega328's.
Thank you for the reply. The reason for having the four 328Ps always hocke to USB is because im Controling them via a program called LCD Smartie. Basically they are being Used for four custom LED alphanumeric displays.
I can send you the gerber files of what I have came up with so far, or better yet I can send you the PCB file if you have Sprint Layout! I'd rather have more eyes on the actual board than just mine. You may notice something that I may have missed in the actual circuit I came up with.
