For those who are new to the hobby.
If you need hookup wire for your projects try getting some old computer cables and recover the wires within.
Some of these wires may not be tinned but they are still OK.
When you tin them yourself use liquid flux.
Don’t forget to salvage old mouse or keyboard cables. The wires in these have a high number of strands making them great for those projects that require a lot of flexibility.

But beware "Cat 5" or "Cat 6" cable. The solid, non-stranded stuff may be aluminium and essentially useless.
