How it works? how to test? Yamaha BC3

Hello there

I have the next question, I already dissasembly a Yamaha BC3 discontinued breath controller, but the thing is that I dont know how to test it, with a multimeter, because is borrowed, the idea is make an arduino Midi controller keyboard but I dont know how to use it because I doesnt have a compatible device

Can you give me some guidance

Thanks in advance

The Yamaha BC3 breath controller has an analogue output so to test it simply power it up and measure the output voltage with your multimeter. Or are you asking how to use a multimeter?

If so put it on the voltage range of 20V and put the red lead on the output and the black lead on the ground.

I know about basic usage of multimeter, but the problem is that I doesnt know what thing to test

for example, if I test a Sustain pedal I test the continuity to check If are switchng on or off, If I test a potentiometer or a Pitch Bend Wheel is about testing resistance to make the analog reading, but the breath controller Is a thing that I am doesnt familiarizated

thanks for your answer Grumpy Mike

A breath control outputs a signal as long as you are blowing through it. The harder you blow the bigger will be the voltage output. When you stop blowing the output will be zero. As you blow increasingly harder the voltage output should rise.
