How to delete contributed libraries in 1.0.5

Hi all,
Been awhile since i have been here and all of yo guys have helped in the past. So here is my problem.
I believe I have conflicting libraries running in my sketch. With the older versions I could just open the library folder and then delete the library needed. But with 1.0.5, when I go into the library folder i don't see any contributed folders.

Has anyone else come across this?? Help! :~
Thanks

There are multiple places where libs can be.
have you looked in the sketch folder/libraries? see preferences

Didn't see anything in the sketch folder. But i cant find "preference" either? in the IDE or the program files.

File:Preference.
Check the path entered there.
Under that path, there should be a /lib, /library folder, some name like that.

OK i opened the IDE1.0.5 went to file/preference...it shows location, language, font size...
I don't see a path for lib/library

of course I think I could lose a path as large as I95

Look in your PC at the location, I have mine set to
c:/arduino_stuff
or something.
Open Explorer, browse to c:/arduino_stuff/lbr or /library, whatever it's called, and delete what you don't want.

whatever it's called

That would be "libraries".

Thanks for the responses. But I think I need to clarify which library I am looking for. It's the contributed library, the easy loader library on the updated IED, where all you need to do is click the zip file. Not having to upload the files manually.

This is the ever exclusive library of the CPU :stuck_out_tongue:

I downloaded something recently which "helpfully" upgraded my IDE. I had to go back to a backup to revert it. Grrrr.

the easy loader library on the updated IED

Improvised Explosive Device?

You're still beating around the bush.

OK here are the instructions that i am using, http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Libraries
When I go to the library in the IDE application they are there, but when I one the file they are not????
If I open the zip, make a file and then down load it like in the older versions everything is where you would like they would be.

What are where?

but when I one the file they are not????

I suggest that proofreading before pressing Post would be useful.

So, do this all the time.

PaulS:

Open the IED look in the "Sketch/Import Library. They are there under "contributed library". Look in File/Examples all the contributed libraries have their examples here.
Open the program file, look in library file, there are NO contributed library files?

I had not had my first cup of coffee yet, my fingers were not going as fast as my brain, or vs versa. :stuck_out_tongue: Besides I am known for mucking up my words, please excuse me for that. I try to go back and fix all the red under lined words!

So, do this all the time.

So Noted! But that doesn't help me at this time. I have already mucked up my house lap top and it will not run any of the Arduion IED at this time. Lost most of my sketches! :0

In windows 7 I can search for libraries and a list of folders with that name appears. I can put the curser on each and a brief list of the contents is shown. If Ethernet and similar listings are seen, then click on that folder.

Linc,
so you are saying that if you click on
[File]->[Preferences]

that the dialog box that comes up titled "Preferences" you do not see a text box at the top
of the window with the label: "Sketchbook location:"

If so, that is very odd, as it has worked this way for a very long time
and works on 1.0.5 on both my OS platforms (linux and XP).

Hi Bill and zoomkat,
you are both right i can see my libraries and where they are BUT I can NOT find the "Contributed Libraries"
When you use the "quick loader" now available with 1.0.5 and then look in you sketch/library in the IDE program, you will see the regular libraries. At the bottom it has a second header called "Contributed Libraries". These are the ones I cant find because the IDE installs them is't self.
Seeing as how when you down load 1.0.5 it,installs it's self in "program file" what else is the program doing? And where is it???
I go to c:programs/Arduion open the folder, look in library. NO contributed libraries?
So in this is my problem. I do not want to delete the 1.0.5 as after doing that on my other computer all of the Arduion IDE's do not work and I lost most of my sketches from older IDE versions. I don't wish to have two computers with the same problem!

Linc,
I not familiar with "quick loader" so I can't get to the dialog/window you speak of.
What exact buttons are you clicking on or doing to get where you are looking?

Something is funny here. Deleting the IDE and re-installing it should not lose a single sketch. In fact that entire folder should not be modified, with the exception of installing the STL because that needs to go into the "include" directory far down in the IDE directory tree.

Can you take some screenshots? Show the preferences from the IDE, and show where your libraries are going.

Hi Bill, looking at the Library down load page http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Libraries you are right I should not be calling it the "quick loader" they call it "Automatic installation"

Nick,
Can you please walk me through taking a snapshot, please be patient with me I an still a newbie trying to muttle my way hrough.
other problem I will be at the race track for the next two days, Sebring International Raceway. so I don't know how quickly I will be able to respond.

OH yea, I have tried going in to change my E-mail address here,...is it just me???

Which version of Windows do you have? There is a screen capture or similar utility packaged with most versions, or hit Shift+PrtScn and then save the image using the Paint program (and crop out stuff that isn't relevant).
