how to draw path traveled by a group of GPS coordinates please? does it a must to use a map?

No, but you’ll just end up with a constellation of points plotted with respect to each other, but no other reference.
Probably the easiest is to plot them on google maps, but if you’re not online, there’s a bit of work for you to do.
