Now that everyone reviewing my project has agreed upon the correct circuit to use and its components I went to the Mouser.com website.
I was putting together a shopping list from mouser and
when I type in 1N5819 I find 80 results! Which one do I want to order?
When I type in PC817 I find 88 results! Which one do I want to order?
When I type in 10uf I find 11743 results! Which one do I want to order?
Needless to say thanks for all the help so far but I need a little more!
Make sure you use the updated schematic in post#15
I sort according to price and pick the cheapest.
FOD817 is the same as PC817
If you already have an FOD814 and you are sure you did not damage it, you can use it in place of the FOD817 and eliminate the diode across pins 1 and 2
Since you have ordered your parts this is for future reference. I like these split core current sensors. I have used these to sense several devices. I attach them near the breaker panel because it is a central location for all electrical components to be monitored. Providing the component being monitored is on a dedicated circuit. With the varying voltage being proportional to current we can also calculate power consumption and monitor for parasitic draw. They are cheap and useful.
