I need to buy a new laptop, so....

.... if I want to carry on with Arduino what should I look out for?

It's ages since I got a new one, and I suppose all Wintel systems new at the local shop will be Windows 10?

Is the current Arduino IDE happy with Win10?

(I only recently upgraded Arduino 105 to 167, bit of a Luddite sometimes.)

edit.... shop down the road selling Win8.1 machines. I see a few threads about 8.1 and Arduino IDE being a problem. Presumably there's an IDE version that's ok with W8.1?

It works fine with Win10.

Win 8.1 is terrible. Avoid it like the plague.

Perhaps that's why the Acer with 8.1 is "on special"

Might be able to upgrade it to 10 for free, though it's still Acer.

I totally agree with DrAzzy. Win 10 is just fine. I have no problems at all. (Or at least the same as under Win 7). Win 8/8.1 is terrible. It kept the good Windows, bad Windows cycle in tact. You can indeed still do the free upgrade to Win 10 but it's indeed still a Acer.

Naw, win 10 is another bad one. They skipped win 9, that would have been the good one.

Win 10 is no 7, and certainly no XP. It only looks good because win 8 was the worst os since windows ME.

I like Apple MacBooks a lot. I use VirtualBox to spin up virtual machines to run other operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
