IDE hangs on startup: "connectex: A connection attempt failed"

Hi, I am new to Arduino and just tried installing Arduino IDE. The installation process when smooth but when tried opening the IDE, it won't open. It's stuck at the window where the logo keeps on zooming in and out.

The first reason can be that the IDE 2.x needs internet access to install some additional stuff. If you're in a corporate environment, that access by the IDE might be blocked by your IT department.

Which operating system are you using?

For windows you can follow the instructions in I can´t see and install any libraris in my Library Manager - #23 by ptillisch and post the results here.

I think that the above is the problem; it sounds like the IDE can't access the internet.

Are you in a corporate environment or using a corporate computer?

yes I am.. but, there's internet connected on my pc currently. is there any workaround on how to solve this?

Talk to your IT department; if you need it for work you have a case. They have probably blocked at the application level.

The workaround could be to use an other Windows PC that is not subjected to it, install the IDE and let it do it's thing. Next copy the needed files over to your computer.

If that is an option, let us know for further assistance once you have done the work on the other PC.

Be aware that e.g. installing libraries using library manager or another board package using the board manager will still be subject to the IT rules; for libraries you can work around it by downloading ZIPs, for other board packages it should be again using another PC as described above.
