Initialisation of Duemilanove

I am noticing that when my Duelimanove starts up, either by being connected to the USB socket or pressing the reset button, anything that is connected activates "slightly".

Any LED's that are connected will blink dimly and a piezo will make a tiny sound. Is this part of an initialisation sequence or is something up?

Cheers,
Tom

Sorry, I have double checked and it seems these pulses are only when connecting to the USB socket, and not when pressing the reset button.

Also the onboard LED is flashing on connecting it.

Interesting...I now noticed that it does this when launching the Arduino IDE and also when hovering over the Tools button in the menu.

Tested on two machines, netbook (Windows 7 Starter) and desktop XP Pro.

Does anyone else own the Duemilanove and if so have they noticed this?

I have read that pin 13 should flash on boot due to the bootloader but it looks like everything does a momentary blink on mine.

Lots of us read all the posts. How useful would it have been to have 43 people say "Nope, doesn't happen to me and my Arduino."?

This is relevant to me; mine does that too, but it's never been a problem for me so far. But, as Paul said, I dunno what's happening with it. Sorry.

PaulS - "Nope, doesn't happen to me and my Arduino." from 43 people would at least confirm to me that it wasn't normal operation.

k2pek2 - Thanks for the response. Presumably it's some kind of initialisation of the pins on connecting to the usb socket.
