Does the IOTCloud Remote App work with the free IOT Cloud plan?
I have downloaded the app to my android phone and iPad.
When running the app I am ask to “Try phone as device”.
I am immediately told “Plan limits reached. Upgrade plan”.
If I choose the ‘upgrade plan’ option I am taken to the upgrade web page. Scrolling down on that it clearly states that the app is available to use with the free plan, so surely I do not need to upgrade yet?
Yes, it does. I have used it briefly on an Android 'phone but have little experience of it
I am not aware of having done anything in particular to make it work
Thanks. Then it must be something has locked up in my account. I cannot guess what!
It seems that loading the app onto a device and signing them up increases your IOT cloud “things” accordingly. As I loaded the app onto my phone and also onto my iPad, then I exceeded the allowance limit of two “things” for the free package.
I don't think that is the problem
I have one "Thing" defined and have the app installed and running on 2 Android devices connected to that "Thing" on a dashboard as I type this. Both devices, one 'phone and 1 tablet, are working as expected
What do you mean by "signing them up" ?
Hi,
When the app loads on a phone/ipad it asks for your login details, which I referred to as ‘signing them up’! Sorry about that.
On the Arduino Cloud plans page it says that for the free plan you can have 2 ‘things’ only per user account.
When loaded onto a phone or iPad the app immediately attempts to create a new ‘thing’, without asking, which l had not expected, and ran up against the free plan limit on ‘things’.
My misunderstanding entirely.
Not for me it doesn't
I installed the app on an Android tablet as a test specifically for this topic and gave it my login details and it worked straight away
Where and how does this attempt show up ?
Hi,
Try the IOT cloud web page to see the number of ‘things’ you have set up. If you have two ‘things’ showing try adding a third, either by pressing the ‘create’ button, or by loading the app onto another device.
I have two ‘things’ showing, the first being associated with an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi board, the second is my phone onto which I have loaded the app. If I press ‘create’ it points me towards upgrading, with no other options. If I try to load the app on my iPad at this point it again points me towards upgrading.
No, it was created automatically when I loaded the app for the first time onto my phone. It is an android phone. I deleted the app and the created thing, then reloaded the app back onto the phone and it did it again. A dashboard has been created that is visible on my phone and on my Chromebook which is showing the iot cloud web page. The dashboard is showing the phones accelerometer readings and a map of my location. I had assumed that this is the default behaviour when loading the app
Also - When loading the app there was a button asking something like “did I want to stream data from the phone” to which I answered yes.
I don't remember such a question. What happens if you say no to the prompt ?
From memory, it just hangs.
I cannot replicate this now.
