Hello everyone,
I'm encountering an issue when trying to upload a .hex file to my Arduino. The upload process fails, but when I upload the corresponding .ino sketch file, it uploads successfully without any issues.
Here is the command that fails:
C:\Users\Aminul\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17\bin/avrdude -CC:\Users\Aminul\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\tools\avrdude\6.3.0-arduino17/etc/avrdude.conf -v -V -patmega32u4 -cavr109 -PCOM3 -b57600 -D -Uflash:w:C:\Users\Aminul\Downloads/RapidAimX_YOLO_Mouse.ino.hex:i
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or knows how to resolve this? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

If you look at the verbose output during upload in the IDE while performing an upload, you will see that the board is reset by opening and closing the serial port with a baud rate of 1200 baud. That is the step that you're missing.
If you want to do it manually, double-tap (a single tap should actually be sufficient) the reset button before you issue the avrdude command.
If you want to do it automatically, you will open and close the port with a baud rate of 1200 baud. You can try the MODE command, not sure if it will do the trick; else write a small script to do so.
This thing is not working at all. Could you please instruct me in little details. Or provide some python script to do this.
I apologise, I missed the fact that the COM port would change..
- Open Windows device manager.
- Expand the Ports section.
- Double-tap the reset button on the Leonardo.
- The existing Leonardo port will disappear and a new one will show (Leonardo bootloader on COMx) for approximately 8 seconds.
- During that time, the L-LED and the Leonardo will fade in-and-out.
- Use that COM port in the AVRdude command.
Once you have determined the new COM port, prepare the AVRdude command, double-tap the reset on the Leonardo and issue the AVRdude command containing the correct port.
