Hello all,
I have a cylinder to which I am connecting k type thermocouples. The cylinder is rotating. Is there any chance of magnetic field affecting my temperature measurement?

If the magnetic field induces current flow in the thermocouple leads, that will interfere with the measurements.
Thanks for your reply. I dont have any magnetic field created around. I am conductoing my experiment in a safe controlled environment. Can earth itself act as a magnetic field?

Thermocouples are used quite regularly with all types of engines. I wouldn't doubt that there could be some interference, but if there is I'm sure you'd be able to figure out just by testing it and looking at your temperature results for any strange behavior.

Ok thanks a lot sir

I wonder how are you are making the connections to the thermocouple if it attached to a rotating cylinder? Are you maintaining the correct wire types to the thermocouple?
Paul
I am attaching the beaded end by using thermal paste that is electrically insulating and thermally conductive. Ya it is a k-type thermocouple
