Led blinking and problem with driver

Hi everyone, i have just bought a new Arduino Uno and i did connect it to the pc, and now there are two led on: the "L" led (is blinking) and the "ON" led. Both with a red color. I thought it might be drivers problem, so i search and i tried to install them from this site: "https://sparks.gogo.co.nz/ch340.html", but when the installation finish, i see the message "the driver is successfully pre installed in advance"

So i was thinking there's nothing wrong and i moved on, i opened Arduino IDE and try to upload the simplest code i know, the one that make a led blinking. After a few minutes, this errore appears:

Arduino: 1.8.5 (Windows Store 1.8.10.0) (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Uno"

See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

This report would have more information with "Show verbose output during compilation" option enabled in File -> Preferences.

At this point i'm sure there's something wrong, i searched some information in this forum but i didn't find anything could help. What can i do?

Thank you to all whose are going to help me Carlo.

Is the board recognised in the Windows' device manager? If so, did you select the correct COM port in the IDE?

No, the board is not recognised at all, and the only port available in the DIE is COM1.

If it’s not recognised in the device manager, that’s your problem. No use trying to upload.

Any yellow exclamation marks in device manager that relate to the Arduino?

One possible reason that the board is not recognised is that you use a charge-only cable or a broken cable.

Can you post a link to the board that you bought?

i bought it from here:

https://www.ebay.it/itm/STARTER-KIT-ARDUINO-UNO-arduino-compatibile-CH340-ART-CU01/230784113801?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D7f6d49f427624b3d99c360ea1e0e6143%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D282049723431%26itm%3D230784113801&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A328e64fe-a62a-11e8-8c60-74dbd180c05a%7Cparentrq%3A62830c041650aad3324c72a4fffe0d98%7Ciid%3A1

and i'm using that blu cable they sold me. There aren't any yellow exclamation in device manager.

I realy don't know where bang my head right now.

From the picture it is clear its a CLONE and the chip for USB looks like a CH340.

Those require these drivers to be installed.

Also you may need to use a USB 2.0 port.

I already tried to install that driver and, as i said in the first message, it always appears a window with this error: "the driver is successfully pre installed in advance".

I just tried to connect it to a USB 2.0 port instead of 3.0 and seems nothing change. None port in IDE except for COM1 and none device in device manager.

edit: I don't know is i already said that, but i'm using windows10. Is there any possibility that is this the problem?

Windows 10 comes with its own sets of issues with regards to drivers.

I always reccomend installing as a FULL ADMINISTRATOR to avoid issues. Win 8-10 can also use thier own drivers in preference over a manufacturers official drivers and this too can cause issues as quite a few of Microsoft own offerings may not have a full compliment of functions or in some cases ( Nvidia ) simply not offer the performance.

Trying another cable (or cables) is something most of us will recommend too as they can go bad or be power only even from new.

Trying another computer is another good thing to try although not everyone has access to a second machine.

Enabling "hidden devices" permanently on win 8-10 is a good thing to do also as it lets you see any issues a lot easier with any hardware. If there is any hardware with an issue that must be dealt with first as it may affect the usage of certain hardware aspects of a computer.

Laptop USB power cannot always be trusted (MAC's are more prone) to give full voltage or current so it is best to ensure there are NO power saving options enabled for USB devices. If you suspect that as an issue then a decent POWERED USB 2.0 HUB can be invaluable.

I've already tried to connect it to 3 different pc and even to one with linux installed. In neither of them was working.

I used another cable (i took my printer's one) but nothing, same as usual.

I assume something in that board in broken, and even the seller think so, so I have decided to return it back to him and he's going to send me a new one, hoping it will work fine.

Anyway, thank you very much to all you did answer me, i'll let you know if the new one works or not.
