Linear Motor on curved rail?

Hello Everybody!

I need to move a little box along a curved rail. I was thinking to the rail as a cilindrical curved one (like a spring, to clarify)

I would avoid sistems like this

I was wondering about something like a "quite-affordable-priced-linear-motor-which-could-follows-curved-path". Does exist something like this or am I talking sci-fi?

Many Thanks,
Andrea

The "quite-affordable" part will be hard.

More info required.

Could your little box travel in an arc if it were attached to an arm with a pivot point at the other end?

No need for a track

Ken

When you say "avoid systems like this", is that because they are too costly, or is there something
different about your needs?

A belt drive might be possible, if you run the belt on the outside of the curve in a slot - friction is an issue though

Hydroponics growers use motorized hangers that run on rails to move their lights around their.. uhh.. tomato plants. You might be able to adapt an off the shelf system.
