LinkNode D1 How to program?

I just got in a LinkNode D1 and the Wiki says to program it the same way you would an Arduino. I have added the ESP8266 boards to the IDE and each time I try to upload I get

warning: espcomm_sync failed
error: espcomm_open failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed

Any ideas?

I had the wrong FTDI driver installed. :o
