Hello, I was away and when I was gone my place got robbed. They took my laptop that has all my projects coding on it. I have one of my esp32 projects with code already in it. But I have no way to recreate the code from scratch. It took me 5 to 6 months to work on it. Is there a way to get a copy of the code from my only esp32 or at least copy from one esp32 to another esp32?
In case the "Related topics" list might not contain it for you (the list is generated by an LLM, so not necessarily deterministic, and also subject to change as new content is added to this topic), I'll share a link to the post I believe @xfpd is referring to:
hello all, thank you @xfpd@ptillisch@Wawa for the information. It looks like I’m going to have to recreate everything from scratch. I still have my notes on wha to did. Hopefully it won’t take me forever to do. When I did the first time. Thank you for help and information.
My condolences on this bad situation. I hope you won't let it get you down too much. My personal experiences of being robbed resulted in emotional impacts in addition to the loss of the physical property.
I hope you will consider implementing an off site backup strategy to at least prevent any possibility of future loss of your digital assets. One good solution is to use Git for version control of your projects, and host the Git repositories on GitHub.
@ptillisch i did had a offsite backup. Problem is I forgot to back it up. And that was my fault there. A big no no for me because I always did backups constantly. Lesson learned.
Did you try ESPConnect.
It lets you save, copy and past the entire flash into another ESP.
It's companion (link on the same page) lets you see/generate custom partitions.
You can also drag/drop whole web pages or even a .ino backup onto a SPIFFS partition.
Great tool once you know how to use it.
Hello all, @Wawa@ptillisch@tigger@xfpd sorry for the late response back. Having some family issues. What I manage to figure out and what I have done. I took the winbond spi unsolder it and manage to backup what was on it using an arduino and saved it.
Now I’m able to take that saved file and put it on new esp32 and it works. Thank you all for the help and information. It helped me to point me in the right direction.
