I'd like to connect a magnetic stripe read to my Arduino in order to read information from a magnetic card.
I've found useful information on how using Arduino and a generic magnetic stripe card reader on the net, but i've found no information on how write a card in order to save information in a magnetic card and read them from the Arduino.
There is any arduino shield which can do this task?
If not, where can i find blank magnetic card and a magnetic card writer which can easily work with Arduino?
You'll need to figure out how to power it (Arduino doesn't have a PS2 port) and you may need level shifters (MAX232) to connect to the RS232 cable or find internal Serial TTL signals you can use.
You can get similar reader/writers on eBay for about the same price.
Yes, i've read the comments and they are not good.
I just need to write some data on the magnetic card (it is not necessary to write them with Arduino), and then i have to use Arduino just to read them.
So it's good any device which is able to write really magnetic cards even if it does not work with Arduino, because the main application is to read and not to write data.
The problem is that i'm not able to find any reliable device writer
You can find blank magnetic strip card at tektimesystems.com. They are service provider for these services which you want, and there you can also get how to write data on magnetic strip.
Hi, maybe you can try use Syncotek card reader, such as USB Magnetic Card Reader Writer SYNCOTEK SC-206U, it equipments integrating the functions of reading and writing mag card, IC card, SAM card. Integrated magnetic card, bank book, IC card, SAM card reading and writing.
And specially designed for financial system which can code and read information in magnetic stripe that bankbook magnetic card and operator card use.
Read and write IBM/ISO/ANSI/DIN standard magnetic card and bank book.
Hope this helps!
