McAfee virus checker stops install of Arduino plugin.

Windows 10 environment. I called McAfee customer support. They are investigating. Can anything be done at the client or web ends?

It is a "false positive"

The quick way around it is to disable your AV for the install.

Another method that has on occasion worked is "install as administrator"

Once installed you should then add the Arduino locations to your AV exclusions / whitelist.

You could also just add the installer to the exclusions too but that is at best a 50/50 shot.

Your question will be moved to the correct area too.

McAfee seems to be particularly bad about false positives (not just in Arduino land)
