Does anyone have any ideas of ways to measure the temperature of a liquid inside a running microwave? I have tried for over a year to stop setting the time wrong when re-heating drinks, but I just can't do it. I set it too long, the drink (which is either coffee or tea, with milk added) gets too hot, throwing off the flavor of the drink and producing a scum on the top made up of overheated milk. With the easy solution (set the timer right, dumbass) having failed despite a year of attempts, I am forced to conclude that my wetware does not support correctly setting the timer on a microwave oven, so a technical solution was in order. I intend to monitor the temperature of the liquid in the microwave, and turn if off if it gets above a critical point.
I already have a relay that I could put into service to turn off the microwave (installed for remote start), and just about any other component that could be needed for the electronics. The problem is getting that temperature
I figure far and away the hardest part of this is getting a temperature reading of a liquid in a cup (glass or plastic) inside a microwave oven while it's running, and get that measurement out of harms way so I can flip a relay based on it. So that's what I'm asking - anyone got any ideas of a way to do that?
