I'm using a mega 2560 manufactured by sunfounder for a school group project. The computer we've been using is no longer accessible so I'm trying to run our code from my laptop, using windows 7.
The port selection is grayed out in my Arduino software I think because windows isn't downloading the usb driver correctly.
Have installed/uninstalled multiple times. Did research on other users with the same problem and tried to manually install the driver via the device manager but every time I still get an error saying windows cannot install the driver.
The closest I've gotten is through device manager > update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > have disk > browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\drivers > choose manufacturer Arduino LLC (sunfounder not available) > select arduino mega 2560 > hit next > and windows encounters an error while attempting to install
After this Arduino Mega 2560 (COM7) shows up in my device manager, but it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and the port selection is still grayed out in the Arduino program.
Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks!
