Not sure why you think that this relates to "Avrdude, stk500, Bootloader issues". I've moved it to a more suitable location on the forum.
Hi @doggierover.
male to male
As for the specific model of the connector, it is a JST PH series 2 conductor connector.
All JST PH series connectors are compatible with each other. So ideally, all you would need to do is be sure to get a 2 contact connector of the JST PH series connector. Unfortunately, some people on the less reliable marketplaces like eBay are selling an incompatible connector as "JST PH 1.25", which has a 1.25 mm pin pitch. But all the JST PH have 2 mm pin pitch, so I don't know what that is. So if you are buying on eBay, Aliexpress, etc. you need to make sure the JST PH connectors you get specify they have a 2 mm pin pitch in the product listing.
The other very important thing to know about this specific cable assembly is that the polarity of the connector on one end is reversed from the other end.
I found a cable here:
but this has the same polarity on each end, meaning it is not compatible with the MKR IoT Carrier as it comes.
It is possible to change the polarity of these cables by the following procedure:

Thank you for the information - I will give this a try. Wonder why Arduino store don't just sell the correct cable or include on with the board...
You are welcome. I'm glad if I was able to be of assistance.
In case it is difficult for you to procure a pre-assembled cable with the connector on each end, the JST PH 2 conductor "pigtails" are more commonly available:
You can connect two of those "pigtails" together to make the double ended cable.
I also looked in the Arduino Store first to find the cable. I know one of these cables is included with the MKR IoT Carrier-based Oplà IoT Kit
thank you - the IOT carrier I ordered arrived, and it does come with a cable! Whoever is settling the product, need to do a better job describing whats in the box.
You are welcome. I'm glad the MKR IoT Carrier Rev2 comes with the cable.
I never procured a carrier by itself because I already have the carrier that came with my Oplà kit so I didn't know whether it came with one or not. Thanks for taking the time to post an update with this useful information.
