Didn't you hear? It "will be available for purchase from February 2016". Oh wait, it's already the end of March. They even removed support for the board from the current version of the Arduino SAMD Boards package February 19th because "The pin mapping is still subject to change". Interesting approach to business these Arduino folks have.
I don't know when it will be available for sale, but the thing about the pins not being final is true. They sponsored a contents on Hackster.io in which 1000 boards were issued as prizes. I won one and was instructed not to post pictures or create shields as the pin layout has been changed since that batch was manufactured. Don't worry though, the MKR1000 is clearly in the works and I think they are using the contest as a large scale beta test to hunt down any final bugs before release. 
It is available today in the Store.
