More preferences

Just noticed that more preferences is missing from 2.3.6.

I was looking to see if there there was a setting for the number of recent files.

The real reason is another Windows update sneaked in and closed everything down and I was wanting to restore the last session before being rudely interrupted.

Otherwise it's back to recording them all in a spreadsheet or similar.

Any ideas?

Please describe how you used to access "more preferences" and in which version of the IDE

1.8.19

Arduino15/preferences.txt

Just below "Additional boards manager"

Thanks for the clarification

Try shift + p + Ctrl in the IDE if you are using Windows or shift + p + Cmd if you are using a Mac

More options than you can shake a stick at, but finding the right one, or even finding if it is available, is not easy

Thanks Bob

For anyone coming straight into the IDE at 2.3.6, they won't know anything about the availability of more preferences in 1.8.19 etc.

It's not as though there isn't room to include it. As you say, not easy to find it, let alone use it.

Is there a setting for the number of recent files? I'll try the shortcuts though.

Hi @tigger.

Arduino IDE automatically reopens all saved sketches that were open in Arduino IDE windows at the time you quit the IDE previously.

The only exception to this is if you start Arduino IDE by opening a specific sketch via file association (i.e., double clicking on a .ino file).

Thanks @ptillisch

I thought that's what it did, but must admit not taking a lot of notice until the unwelcome interruption by Windows update. Try as I might to avoid them, one gets through.
