Hi,
I'm working on building a robot and want to implement the tank tracks as described in this article:
http://letsmakerobots.com/content/how-i-made-my-tracks
I have little experience with (DC) motors, but these tracks are rather heavy so I want to make sure I have enough torque to make my robot robust.
This is a university project and they gave me a L298N motor controller to work with. I can buy a new motor controller, however, my budget is limited.
The L298N has a 2A maximum output as far as I know, but I haven't been able to find (on ebay or banggood) a motor that operates (when maximally loaded) at 2A. Also, would it be possible to run 2 motors at 2A with this motor controller, or would I need to add heat sinks or some other coolant?
Is there any motors you can recommend? The budger per motor is below 10$ (if at all possible)
Thanks in advance,
Dennis van den Berg
The link you posted said powerful motors are needed.
2A are unlikleey to cut it.
Wheelchair motors i would suggest.
EDIT , possibly a wiper motor would do, perhaps you can get one cheap from a scrapyard

Would you know any motor controller that can handle two of those and maybe specify a link to an example motor so I know what to look for?
Google/ebay n wheelchair and wiper motors.
Wheelchair seem to be about 50.
Wipers can also be expensive but i have had those for 5 from a scrapyard previously.
For the drive, again google on H bridge drivers or motor driver boards.
Probably need something capable of upwards of 10 amps, stall current of motors can be very high though.
If you are not using batteries the PSU is unlikely to be cheap also.
