Im looking for a pcb/component/module with multiple buttons/switches on it.. each with its resistance value
** (to be clear, this will be used with a DFPlayer mini module in the end, as a standalone board w/o an Arduino.. but using an Arduino analog pin would be the same scenario)
but I dont see a way to connect this like the analog button pcb linked to above? (ie: has both GND and VCC pins)
What are my options here? suggestions?
I could just use individual buttons, with each one having its own resistor/value of course... but that doesnt give me a nice professionally made PCB where the buttons are mounted too...
In a perfect world.. the solution would be the first link URL with:
understanding of how the resistance is calculated (so I could just add my own resistors)
more buttons
thanks
Link update: (sigh) * (before some cry themselves to death)
but I'm not quite clear how the resistors are used on the back to calculate the resistance?
When you buy cheap stuff off of eBay you don't always get schematics or datasheets.
But, I assume it's just a string of resistors making a voltage divider with multiple resistors and multiple "taps" (outputs). It can work, but personally I HATE THE IDEA of using analog when you really want digital!
With a switch matrix you connect the rows (or columns) to microcontroller output pins and you drive one row (or column) at a time. The opposite rows/columns are connected to inputs so you can read which switch is pressed, depending on which column/row is driven at the moment.
I find it funny posting to complain took more time than ctrl +c and ctrl +v does... lol
What would have taken even less time, in total, is if you had done that one single click needed to make a proper link. It's you that is asking for help. Why not be courteous?
as mentioned.. I'm used to forum software doing this for you..
so essentially an oversight, that seemed to melt your whole day.
and yes.. once you started to complain and then play the 'edit post game'.. I followed suit, using your 'words'.. doing the same.
AS WELL AS adding 'links'...
bottom line is.. no one MAKES you come in to a thread or post.
If the OP is not 'up to par' for you.. then leave. (or be helpful)...
If the lack of 'links' is that offensive to you.. you didnt need to answer or be here at all.
(your presence, in this thread at least, hasnt provided anything useful of of help what-so-ever)
so I'm looking for a controlled (I set the resistor values) and extended (more buttons) solution for this..
Typically all of the resistors are equal. For example with 5V applied and five 1K resistors (or five 10K resistors) there is 1V dropped across each resistor. That gives you the possibility of 6 switches and 6 voltages from 0 to 5V. (You'll get the invalid readings if you press more than one button at once).
The trick is to make a "voltage window"... Don't check for exactly 2V... Check for a voltage between 1.7V and 2.3V or something like that.
So you are refusing to post links because you are protesting about the fact that the forum software no longer automatically parses URLs like it used to in the old days? I feel the same.

Dude... WTF? LOL
An oversight is an oversight.. as in "not intended".
I didnt even notice they werent links until you guys came crying.
They have since been added at to the post @ 2:18...
well before the MANY MANY edits to your posts.. ** (you really need to be quoted as you change your posts so much, changing your comments after the fact and after responses to your content/intent/demeanor is low-budget move)
or perhaps a simple request?
Hey can you make them links? or they didnt come through as clickable links?
etc..etc..
but instead of you guys talk shit about post count and 'forums status labels'.... yadda yadda
like a bunch of girls, like it was some personal attack on you.
(eye roll)
version 6: (previous comments and smack talk removed several times now)

Help?
I am. (and you have done -everything- but provide any)
"Why not be courteous?"
even though you keep re-wording it.. the answer has not changed. It was NOT intentional. (get over it) and even it f it was.... so? You didnt need to post AT ALL if it bothered you... yet somehow you felt you needed to chime in and......do what exactly? Be the link police all of a sudden? Be a productive member of this community by doing what again??
Instead of requesting or even pointing out they were not clickable, you wanted to talk shit and be an internet 'tough guy' for some reason. (although I'm not clear as to why yet?)
So the same question to you:
"Why not be courteous?"
as I would say it was not 'ME' who started this negative interaction.
You may have think thats what you -wanted- to say.. but thats not how it came out.
First an insult..... then another one.
as stated it wasnt 'by design' to make you all break down and cry.
and I tried to get back on topic.. but PaulRB kept making statements..
then changing them... then making more comments.. then changed those as well...etc..etc.. (aimed towards me.. and putting my responses out of context) ** good move! **
I just wanted to have some community discussion and some 'setting straight' about the analog values
