I'm running IDE 2.3.4 off the AppImage file. When I try to select a port in the tools/port menu, it only lists serial ports. When I exit the 2.3.4 IDE, and I start 1.8.19 on the very same Linux Ubuntu 22.04, all my running NodeMCU's are listed with their IP addresses correctly. Honestly, it was so long ago, I don't remember what else had to be done back then, when I configured the old IDE, so I'm unsure if it is a bug of the 2.3.4, or just a misconfiguration. The previous 2.3.3 version did not show the IP's either, though. Please help ! Thanks !
Ok, that makes more sense. I have only once seen an IP. I looked into OTA but it is so slow compared to hard wired I quickly discarded it as a usefull option. I do have a remote situation but I upload to my A board, physically remove my B board and plug in the A board. I use female hdr strips to mount the board.
As I browsed through old topics, I learned that this problem was already there in the IDE 2 betas, but later it somehow got sorted out. That's what I'd like to know, how.
OK, as a workaround I downloaded the 0.9.2 version of mdns-discovery and replaced the binary in the folder ~/.arduino15/packages/builtin/tools/mdns-discovery/1.0.9
Deva_Rishi - I have only ESP32, and get very sporadic connection to the network OTA ports.
Also running IDE 2.3.4 same as OP, and I see MDNS is on 1.0.9... maybe it's just a general problem with MDNS 1.0.9 ??
so... I tried the 0.9.2 mdns-discovery, and something stops working after a while. The port then shows disconnected, and the menu option to select another port is deactivated. can't say it was successful.
