New Electronics Shop (SAV/ATL Georgia, USA)

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to gauge interest for an electronics shop in Georgia. I plan to sell mainly to GA, SC, NC, FL, AL, LA, and TN (to provide quick delivery times for basic and specialty items), but I will definitely take orders from anywhere else, including international.

I plan to stock a lot of specialty items such as: sensors, LCDs, LEDs (all types and frequencies), LED matrices, GPS/WiFi/RF modules, and other interesting stuff and at some point my own circuits.

Price wise, I will be competitive! And for people living in the south east USA, you will get the benefit of geographical location with speedy/inexpensive shipping options.

What I plan to stock by next month if interest proceeds:

  • Arduino Duemilanove
  • Arduino Pro Mini - 5V/16MHz (Sparkfun)
  • FTDI Basic Breakout (Sparkfun)
    []
  • Serial Enabled [16x2], [20x4], and larger LCDs (with various back lighting and text color options)
    []
  • Mini push buttons (various types)
  • RGB LEDs
  • Voltage Regulators (3.3V, 5V, & Adjustable)
  • Jumper Wires (M-M and F-F)
  • Break Away Headers (Various M & F types)
  • Trimpots
  • Sliders
  • Battery Holders
  • Resistors
  • Capacitors
  • Crystals
  • ADXL330 (with breakout board)
  • Gauge 16/18/20 wire
    []
  • Crystal Clear Blue 5mm LEDs
  • Crystal Clear Red 5mm LEDs
  • Crystal Clear White 5mm LEDs
  • Crystal Clear Green 5mm LEDs
  • Crystal Clear Orange 5mm LEDs
  • Crystal Clear Aqua 3mm LEDs
  • Blue Cathodes w/transformers (12")
  • White Cathodes Tubes w/transformers (12")

Also, if anyone is interested... I am transferring to Georgia Institute of Technology as a computer/electrical engineering major next fall ('09) and will be setting up shop in Atlanta. So if anyone is around there, I hope to get some stuff going on, maybe even some workshops!

Hi, coldfusion,

I would guess that proximity is not the prime feature that shoppers are looking for. From Texas, for example, I would certainly buy stuff from your store if the pricing and service were competitive, even though this is outside your "primary sales zone".

Good luck! It's good to see more options for the Arduino buyer. Let us know when you are open for business.

Mikal

Hey Mika, thanks!

The first primary target is really students, hobbyist, and engineers in the area. But for the business model, my goal is to gather specialty and commonly used parts and provide competitive prices.

Hopefully I will be open for business in early January!

I would like suggestions for products or services that people would like to see offered!
