newbie question (battery powered Arduino)

Hi,

I want to drive Arduino using batteries (power via DC power jack or USB is ok while programming and testing, but not the final product). Can someone please suggest how to hook up batteries to Arduino. I am particularly interested in Arduino Nano. Are there any readily battery packs that I can purchase and use (or maybe I can make one if its not that difficult). Any idea about the lifetime of those batteries ? Any instructions, pictures or videos will be helpful.

Arduino can be powered by external power (2.1mm plug center positive) using a 6-battery pack (9V). For Arduino nano, the VIN pin hooks to the input of the voltage regulator and thus you can hook up a 9V source as well.

If current requirement is not that high, a 9 Volt battery will do the trick.
